Stiftung Solarenergie- Solar Energy Foundation Ethiopia is one of the pioneer on providing Solar Technologies to solve the vital problems of the off-grid communities of Ethiopia in a sustainable approach.
Solar Energy Foundation is an international charitable organization established in Germany in the year 2005. It is dedicated to alleviate poverty in developing countries through electrifying their homes using renewable energy preferable solar home systems.
The Foundation began is operation in Ethiopia in the year 2005 in North Showa Zone of the Amahara Regions State in a small village known as Kechmo Ber through installing 37 solar home systems, and Seven clinics.
The Foundation has been legally registered by Ministry of Justice as an international NGO in July 2007. Then, it prepared a one-year project proposal and signed a project agreement with the Amhara Regional State Food Security and Disaster Prevention Bureau and Mines and Energy Promotion and Development Bureau to electrify 2000 Households entitled as <<Light For Education III >> in North Showa Zone Mida-Woremo Woreda, of Rema and Dire Village in 2008 which was extended to June 2014. To this end, the Foundation has successfully benefited over 2200 households freely as an initial aid basis.
